Morse Beacon
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 May 2026
This privacy policy describes how the Morse Beacon iOS app ("the app") handles information. The short version: the app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
What we collect
Nothing. Morse Beacon does not collect any personal information, analytics, identifiers, location, contacts, photos, or any other data about you or your device.
What is stored on your device
The app saves your in-app preferences locally on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults system. This includes:
- The text you have entered for transmission
- Your transmission speed (words per minute)
- Which output channels you have enabled (flashlight, screen, sound, haptics)
- Your sound volume preference
- Your color palette
- Any messages you have saved to the favorites library
This information never leaves your device. It is not synced to iCloud, transmitted to any server, or shared with anyone. Uninstalling the app removes it.
Network usage
The app does not make any network requests. It works fully offline and does not require an internet connection.
Third parties
The app contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising, no analytics services, and no tracking tools.
Children's privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects no information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).
System permissions
The app uses iOS system features that may show standard permission prompts:
- Camera (flashlight only): Required by iOS to control the rear-camera LED for Morse light flashing. The camera itself is never opened, no images or video are captured, and nothing is recorded.
- Haptics: Used to drive the Core Haptics engine for vibration output.
- Audio playback: Used to emit a 600 Hz tone through the device speaker.
None of these features produce data that is stored or transmitted.
Not a replacement for emergency services. Morse Beacon is a signaling utility. In a real emergency, always contact your local emergency services first — 911 in the US, 112 across the EU, 999 in the UK, or your country's equivalent.
